QuikAssist
Bulletin #99-1
To: QTS QuikAssist Customers With the arrival of Hurricane Floyd, there will no doubt be numerous power related problems in the NY/NJ metropolitan area today and tomorrow. There is a likelihood that power lines will be downed by falling trees and that there will be a high level of surges and spikes, which can cause equipment damage. To minimize the problems you encounter, for today we suggest the following:
If we have provided you with your network over the last few years, your servers are power protected, and it is likely that your hubs/switches are on a UPS. It is also likely that you have a "ProtectNet" on the LAN connection to the server, and a "PTEL" cube connecting your modems to the wall both of these prevent surges from coming into your equipment through the wiring. However, you may want to speak with us about performing a "power protection audit" to make sure your network is ready for the upcoming winter. We can offer several options, most of which are relatively inexpensive, to help ensure your network stays up and running. |
