QTS Announces QuikRecover? Service Offering; Comprehensive Methodology for Developing and Implementing Disaster Recovery Plan

(Morris Plains, NJ) December 28, 2005 ? Quality Technology Solutions, Inc. (QTS) today announced its new QuikRecover? service offerings, presenting small and medium business with a full methodology for building and implementing Disaster Recovery Plans.  According to Neil Rosenberg, President and CEO of QTS, "QuikRecover is specifically tailored to the needs of mid-market businesses - companies with between 50 and 2500 PC users.  These companies usually have strong technology foundations, but need help with properly managing growth and ensuring the availability of their network infrastructure and business resources."

"Many businesses simply don't know where to begin" said Rosenberg.  "They may have reliable tape backups that are taken offsite - or they may not - but beyond that the process can be bewildering and frustrating to both IT and non-IT personnel.  QuikRecover will help guide them through the process."

QuikRecover is specifically designed to take a business through the various stages of building, implementing and testing a Disaster Recovery Plan.  It consists of the following component offerings:

  • QuikRecover Disaster Recovery Planning Service: Using QTS-standardized templates as a starting point, QTS works with the customer to define the customer's assets and the recovery windows around each asset, as well as understand the organizational issues and responsibilities around disaster recovery.  Based on this information, QTS will conduct a planning session with IT and Business Management to drive the decisions needed to frame out the plan, and will draft the plan based on its templates.
  • QuikRecover System Recovery Plans: Using QTS-standardized templates, QTS will develop failover and failback plans for each system component, be it via data replication, tape backup or other means.  This includes critical infrastructure such as firewalls, routers and switches, along with servers and their data.
  • QuikRecover Implementation Service: QTS works with the customer to plan and build the Cold/Warm/Hot Site so it is ready for use.
  • QuikRecover Testing Service: QTS works with the customer to conduct a checklist test of the Disaster Recovery Plan and System Recovery Plans, then a "live" test to ensure the plans are thorough and complete.  Modifications will be made as needed.

QTS can customize the engagement to meet the specific needs of the customer, based on size, industry, network complexity or business sensitivity.  "Every business is different, but the overall process of defining, developing and testing the plan can be fairly consistent and leverage our work product," noted Rosenberg.

QTS' key vendor partners around the QuikRecover service are:

  • Microsoft, providing the core server and applications platform as well as Terminal Services for remote access and Virtual Server for virtualization;
  • Symantec, whose BackupExec products provide reliable tape backup and restore solutions for Cold and Warm Site configurations;
  • NSI, whose Double-Take and GeoCluster products provide the data replication engine for Hot Site configurations; and
  • Citrix, whose MetaFrame family of products provide a secure platform for remote access to the Hot/Warm/Cold Site and allow for a Virtual DR Site.
