Solution Spotlight: Overview RSA ACE/Server and SecurID are complementary components of RSA Security's Strong Authentication solution. Strong Authentication, sometimes also known as MultiFactor Authentication, combines something you know (a user ID and password/passcode) with something you have (a token of some type) or something you are (biometrics). RSA ACE/Server is the back-end server component, that maintains a database of user accounts (which can be imported from Active Directory, NDS or an LDAP directory service) as well as mathematically calculating a number that changes every 60 seconds. ACE/Server integrates with most VPN and remote access platforms, and many other networking products. SecurID Tokens are carried by the user, on their person or their computer. These tokens contain the same "seed" as the server and thus are in sync with the server in calculating the changing number. To log in, users need to enter their username and PIN/passcode, along with the number on their token - thus you need both the users' memory, and the token, combined to be able to log in. Token formats include key fobs, credit cards, smart cards and software tokens that can run on PCs, PDAs, cell phones and other platforms. The solution works with a wide variety of network environments, including Microsoft, Novell and UNIX, and with most leading firewall/VPN platforms and web server technologies. QTS offers a QuikStart for RSA ACE Server and SecurID, to help customers rapidly deploy this technology while concurrently transferring knowledge for ongoing management. This one day engagement allows for implementation of ACE Server and a sample of SecurID Tokens, and training of IT support personnel in its use. Key
